Spiced Quinces and Grape Catsup

Old_time_pickling_2"OLD-TIME PICKLING AND SPICING RECIPES"
1953

Every spring I start to think about gardening and swear that I will learn how to "put-up" peaches or pickles or pears. Our quince bushes are prolific and while I've found a few Quince Jelly recipes that don't seem worth the trouble, this cookbook has an appealing recipe for "Spiced Quinces" with cinnamon and cloves recommended as a "mild-sweet dessert or spread for hot biscuits."

Florence Brobeck makes the whole process seem quite simple and recipes are geared toward small batches. A few of the intriquing recipes:  Homemade Capers, Grape Catsup and Gingered Tomato Butter.
